Ferroli plan to reduce CO2 emissions with a reduction of emissions by 30% as early as 2024.

It’s good news for the environment that Ferroli, as a company, are focused on emission reductions.

The product categories on which the business is focused are mainly made up of: Residential boilers, high power professional boilers, electric water heaters, gas water heaters, aerothermal heat pumps and biomass appliances for which emissions have been calculated.

For all "passive functioning" products, i.e., not powered directly by energy sources, or operating on renewable energy such as: radiators, indirect water heaters (tanks) and renewable energy systems, it has been estimated that there are no significant emissions throughout the period of use of the products themselves, but these will still be considered in the production process.

The higher CO2 emissions were calculated mainly in relation to the operational functioning of the traditional gas boilers. These products are being replaced in the offer portfolio and by more efficient and electrified solutions: including the revision of the top selling product platforms (wall mounted condensing boiler) towards a new product that is even more efficient and easy to maintain, to reduce costs and emissions over its useful life.

This has led to the launch of the new improved range of wall mounted boilers "BLUEHELIX" Hi-tech RRT from the family of the Bluehelix boiler, awarded in 2017-2019-2021 as Best Product and Best Purchase in the category by Italian magazine, ALTROCONSUMO, which we now sell in the UK. This product range of natural gas wall mounted boilers is also ready for fuel mixed with 20% Green Hydrogen.

Also, in development hybrid heat pump systems and “full electric” heat pump systems. We already have the LEB electric system boiler here in the UK.

More generally overseas, Ferroli has embarked on a process of pushing towards electrification which will allow the progressive reduction of the CO2 emissions of the products installed in the major sales markets thanks to an ever- increasing mix of renewable vectors in the electricity production of these markets. Even traditionally more conservative markets that are slow to move towards heat pumps will benefit from an improvement in the mix of combustion products from standard technology products towards more modern and efficient condensing boilers.

Lastly, Ferroli are midway into a project to develop a 100% hydrogen-powered wall-hung boiler working in cooperation with the Research Consortium of the Fraunhofer Institute for the development of innovative heat pumps with natural refrigerant (R290) and for the of 10 kW of thermal power in a machine that uses a maximum of 150 g of R290 to allow indoor installation without constraints in homes).

“All this leads to an ambitious plan to reduce CO2 emissions which foresees an accelerated impact with a reduction of emissions by 30% as early as 2024”, so an ambitious but planet friendly plan that we are proud to be a part of.
